Nashik, popularly known as the "wine city" of India is located around 190 km away from Mumbai and Pune. It is also among the holiest Hindu cities and one of the four which serves as the venue for the world-famous Kumbh Mela.
The city also boasts of a strong industrial base with a strong presence spanning the auto, engineering and electrical industries. Ambad, Satpur, Gonde, Igatpuri and Sinnar are the five major industrial zones developed by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) here and host reputed corporate majors including Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), Mahindra & Mahindra, CEAT, LG Electronics and Samsonite among others.
Nasik also scores well above average in the infrastructure front with well-developed roads, ample water supply and fast developing social infrastructure. In recent years the city has witnessed huge investments in the infra sector especially in the development of National Highways.
It is the third largest city after Mumbai and Pune in the state with approx 19mn people and the second largest (after Mumbai) in terms of area. It forms the state's golden triangle with Mumbai and Pune. Nashik was ranked 16th in a global survey of the fastest developing cities, by The City Mayors Foundation and has made significant economic progress over the last decade.

Proximity and Landmarks Near Nashik
Maha Kumbh: The world's largest religious gathering is held here once every 12 years.
Someshwar: It hosts a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Hanuman on the banks of the Godavari.
Deolali: An important military base some 16 kms for Nashik city.
Bhagur: About 3 kms away from Deolali Camp, it's the birthplace of the famous freedom fighter Swatantrya Veer Savarkar.
Takli: Birthplace of Sant Ramdas, who was the teacher to famous Maratha warrior king Shivaji.
Ramkund: A holy place for Hindus, legend has it that Lord Ram took a dip here during his stay in Nashik.
Transport & Infra:
Nashik is connected via two National Highways: the Mumbai–Agra Highway NH-3 and the Nashik–Pune Highway NH-50. It’s well connected by road to other cities like Aurangabad, Pune, Gujarat and cities in south India. Nashik's Ozar airport is located at a distance of 20km from the city centre. Nashik Road Railway Station is the major railway station in the city. The city is slated to get a Metro Rail service soon.
The city is part of the proposed Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor. The Nashik-Pune highway is fast nearing completion, while the Nashik-Mumbai highway has been expanded to four lanes.
The upcoming Indiabulls SEZ here is poised to be the state’s first multi-product SEZ. Nashik is also likely to host a proposed Indo-China Industrial park across 2000 acres at Sinnar.
