The eastern and western sections of the city are connected by Al Maktoum Bridge, Al Garhoud Bridge, Al Shindagha Tunnel, Business Bay Crossing and Floating Bridge.
The Public Bus Transport system in Dubai services 140 routes and transported over 109 million people in 2008. Licensed taxis are also readily available here. Dubai International Airport, connects Dubai to the rest of the world.
A US$3.89 billion Dubai Metro project is currently operational. It currently consists of two lines (Red line and Green line) which run through the major financial and residential areas of the city. Abras, small boats that ferry passengers across the Dubai Creek are also popular here.
